ALEX MARTIN

SENIOR PASTOR

"Pastor Alex" arrived at Calvary in April of 2011. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from The College of William & Mary in 1987 and a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before coming to Calvary, Alex served as the campus minister for several universities in Virginia for 13 years; and he was the pastor of a church in Marshville, North Carolina, for 7 years.

Alex is married to Teresa Martin (our Minister of Music), and they have one child: a daughter named Windham. He enjoys cycling, reading, fiddling around on computers, and singing.

ALEX BRACEY

MINISTER TO YOUTH AND CHILDREN

Alex Bracey joined the staff at Calvary Baptist Church as the Associate Pastor to Youth and Children in 2012. He did his undergraduate study at UNC-Charlotte and then earned a master’s degree in Christian Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He’s been a full-time youth pastor for over 15 years and has served part-time with the local YoungLife staff for the last 13 years.

Alex loves hanging out with his family and friends, eating good meals, going to the beach, and exercising; and he’s an avid UNC Tarheels fan! He’s married to Melissa Bracey, and they’re the proud parents of a beautiful, creative, and fun-loving daughter named Emory. 

TERESA MARTIN

MINISTER OF MUSIC

Teresa Martin became Calvary’s Minister of Music in December of 2012. She graduated from Meredith College with a degree in music, and she earned a Master of Church Music degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Teresa loves to sing and play the piano, and she started taking piano lessons at age 8. She says, “Music has been at the core of who I am as long as I can remember. I have sung in choirs throughout my school years, and I think being the Minister of Music at Calvary has put me at the right place at the right time in my life.”

Teresa has several hobbies, most of them centering around crafts. She enjoys making things with her hands and works in all sorts of mediums. She’s married to Alex Martin, Calvary’s Senior Pastor, and that have one wonderful daughter, Windham.

BETH CHURCH

ACCOMPANIST

Beth Church officially became Calvary’s organist and pianist in 2022. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in music education at Appalachian State University and a degree in Administration from Western Carolina University. She worked for many years as music teacher and school principal for Burke County Schools before retiring and moving to Mount Airy. 

Beth also directs the Calvary Joybells, our congregation’s handbell choir, and serves as director for our Women’s mission groups. When she’s not leading music and ministry, Beth

loves to read, ski, and go for walks. She’s married to Brinkley Church, and they have four children and two grandchildren (with another on the way). 

HANNAH ROBERTSON

CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

Hannah Robertson became Calvary’s Office Administrator in October of 2023. Before that, she worked with the local school system, driving a bus and working in the cafeteria. Right before coming to the Calvary family, she worked in retail with Walmart and Sam’s Club.

Hannah loves to cook, garden (flowers & veggies), and plan fun family get-togethers. Most of all, she loves to help and encourage others. She also enjoys bright and festive decorations, which help to make our church office a welcoming place to visit.

Hannah is married to Shawn, and they have three grown boys and two daughter-in-law’s, Benjamin and Morgan, Tyler and Maddie and Justin. They also have a precious granddaughter, Emerson.
